The Honorverse (of David Weber)
|
Sorry, I just managed to "break" almost all my links to the images (11/29/05).
I'll try to fix the problem later this week or next.

GENERAL NOTE 1: GENERAL NOTE 2: |
COPYRIGHT NOTICES:
I like each half of the "Honor Harrington Concordance", as linked to from URL: "http://hornpipermark.00freehost.com/", and recommend you check it out. ['honor_h' Web Ring member.] The text portion of the below list was derived from the Concordance.
Thank You to Mark Gutis (hornpipermark@hotmail.com) for providing the information. Why create this list? My own human limitations; and the expectation that I am not alone. I am the sort of a person who has a hard time keeping track of all the characters in a big story such as those in David Weber's "Honorverse". I could really use some sort of a visual clue or 'cheat-sheet' to help me remember who this or that character is.
Note that since this list in not intended as a movie cast list, images of the same person at different points in his/her life can be used for different persons, or even relatives in the same family. (i.e.: Early James Bond's Sean Connery versus the "Hunt for Red October" movie Sean Connery can be two different people.)
Here are some of the sources I have used so far:
- The initial images are clips from the copyrighted artwork of David B. Mattingly.
- I've joined (and "lurked" at) one of Yahoo's groups/lists for 'Honor Harrington'; the comments in that group/list might be the source of some suggestions.
- A similar news-server, something like "alt.books.david-weber" has been 'mined' for ideas,
- Some images came from
.
- Future images (probably of Hollywood actors/actresses) may be added almost by chance.
{I would have preferred to use the results of the "Honor Harrington Movie Cast Voting System", however as of October 2004 it is still not been put back up, nor do I have a list of what the previous results were.}
If you have:
-a text file that shows the previous results of the HHMCVS, or
-ANY NOMINATION, suggestion, comment, and such, please send me an e-mail in care of:
b e c k y at p i h l dot u s.
Also, please note that anytime you see this placeholder image:
it means that I am especially interested in nominations/suggestions for that particular character.

| Bachfisch, Thomas. RMN captain, captain of HMS War Maiden. He is wounded during the engagement against PSN Annika. [COWm] Following the engagement, a court of inquiry finds him negligent for allowing the Annika to get so close. He remains in the RMN, rising to flag rank and then leaves on half-pay. He commands an armed merchant, the Pirate’s Bane in Silesia. He continues working for Admiral Givens, passing on intelligence as he finds it. He warns Honor Harrington that the IAN is becoming more powerful and provocative in Silesia. On a hunch, he shadows RHN Hecate, concluding that the RHN is operating in Silesia. In an engagement against another RHN DD, he is wounded, losing his legs, but survives to report the RHN presence to Harrington. [WOH] |

| Diamato, Oliver. PN officer. As a citizen commander, tactical officer in PNS Schaumberg. He advanced rapidly under the Committee for Public Safety’s regime, partly by competence and partly because of his political fervor. He had joined the ship as assistant tactical officer and was made tactical officer when the captain and people’s commissioner finally were able to get rid of the incompetent Citizen Commander Young. He is also second officer of the Schaumberg. [EOH] He survives the pounding the ship takes although he is wounded. He is one of the officers who assert that the Alliance has developed a class of “super” LACs. He is promoted to citizen captain and receives command of PNS William T. Sherman. [AOV] |

When it becomes obvious that sabotage can be proved, he attempts to assassinate Harrington by having her pinnace shot down. When Benjamin names him as the responsible party in the Conclave of Steadholders, he chooses to challenge the Protector’s champion. As a Swordmaster Second, he assumes he can kill Harrington. | Foraker, Shannon. PN officer. As a citizen lieutenant, tactical officer in PNS Vaubon. She is a technical whiz to the point of being a techno-nerd. (i.e.: Warner Caslet thinks of her as a "Witch".) When excited or distracted, she often reverts to referring to a superior as “sir,” contrary to PRH directives. [FIE] She is promoted to lieutenant commander and remains in the same position. She is among the crew captured by HMAMC Wayfarer. [HAE] Promoted to citizen commander, she is tactical officer in PNS Count Tilly. She spends a great deal of time with the prisoners captured from HMS Prince Adrian. She probably saves Nimitz’s life by telling Cordelia Ransom that if he is killed, Honor Harrington will die as a result. Her display on the Count Tilly reveals that two small ships escape from PNS Tepes before she is destroyed. She is about to erase the tape when Rear Admiral Tourville (Lester) does it instead. [IEH] As a result of her experience with the prisoners from HMS Prince Adrian, she changes. She becomes very careful of what she says and seems to watch everything around her. [EOH] Because of the kindness she showed to Harrington and Nimitz, no one mentions her to the Manticoran press so as not to compromise her. As part of the many ops programs she downloaded to Twelfth Fleet ships were self-destruct programs into the computer systems of the SSN ships that are assigned to Twelfth Fleet. When they are ordered to act against the PN ships, she activates it and vaporizes them. Her comment is, “Oops.” [AOV] Promoted to vice admiral in the RHN, she commands Bolthole and supervises its research and development programs. [WOH]

| Houseman,
the Honorable Reginald. Manticoran diplomat. He is Admiral Courvoisier’s assistant to negotiate a treaty with Grayson. He had been a tenured professor in Mannheim University’s College of Economics and was selected to help Grayson with its economy. His family is a vocal supporter of the Liberal Party. When Masada attacks and after Courvoisier is killed, he panics and orders that all Manticoran personnel are to be evacuated from Grayson. Honor Harrington countermands his orders and when she realizes that he is a coward, backhands him across the face, sending him sprawling. He lodges an official protest and she receives a reprimand in her file. [HOTQ] Although Queen Elizabeth III agrees that Harrington was out of line, speaking as a woman and not a queen, she tells Harrington she wishes that she had hit him harder. [FOD] Because of his actions in Grayson, his diplomatic career came to a screeching halt. Klaus Hauptman is contemptuous of him but uses him to help get through the House of Lords a motion to recall Harrington to active RMN service. [HAE, Ch. 2] He is among the people who attack the Cromarty Government after Operation Icarus. [EOH] In the High Ridge government, he is Second Lord of the Admiralty.
